I am a web developer based out of Chapel Hill, NC San Diego, CA. I work for an open-source wiki software company, MindTouch, as a director of engineering (not as important as it sounds). We build the best open-source wiki, MindTouch Deki. I develop improvements to the user interface component of Deki and I also manage the overall release cycles. I am incredibly proud of the work we do at MindTouch.
I was born in 1983 to two Korean immigrants in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Our family then moved to Tonawanda, New York until I was in the 3rd grade. We then moved to Chapel Hill, NC, where I was in the East Chapel Hill High Class of '00 and the UNC Class of '05 (BA Economics, BA Chemistry). I currently reside in downtown San Diego.
I work on several side projects in varying states of abandonment: Tabulas, a personal publishing platform with over 100,000 members (basically an online journaling service); Listfoo, an online list editor; Fuunk, a (currently) abandoned project on what courseware management for students could be like; AudioMatch, which tracks what music you listen to and generates some marginally useful information; and Swarmf, which I'm far too lazy to describe right now. I have an umbrella site that documents progress on these projects at rykorp.
I maintain a personal journal on Tabulas, which is filled with many middle-of-the-road life realizations. I enjoy photography, but haven't taken many photos since my summer 2002 trip to Vietnam and Korea. I did create a fun Polaroid gallery of my old college poker game which I thought turned out well. I strive for theatrical and musical excellence in my life (kidding!). If you are a girl, I created a personal e-valentine for you (again, kidding!).
